So, it's been a while. I know, I know... I have started a few posts and then just not finished them. To lazy, interrupted? Whatever the reason it's been a while.
I have been thinking about Easter coming up. I have tried or wanted to stay away from the commercialism type of celebrating Easter. The Easter bunny comes, we eat candy, we don't even know why we are celebrating Easter other than it's when the bunny comes... you know... so I want to step away from that again this year and try to teach my children about Jesus. I mean really teach them. I want them to know Jesus. I want them to understand Easter and what it means to us. I have even been looking up passover and what it means, and how it is celebrated. There is a lot of information out there.
So, this is my plan. Tomorrow is FHE (family home evening) and we are going to have a lesson on the Savior and his life. Then, somehow, (hopefully the Lord will guide me here) I want to spend the rest of the week, or each day of the week doing something for the Lord, or learning something about Jesus, or implementing one of his teachings.
This is a 12 am post and 12 am thoughts so I don't know how to make it all come out so that the kids think its cool and learn something in the meantime.
Does anybody have any suggestions. I know I have like 3 readers, but if you have heard anything or have any thoughts on how I can do this better, please leave a comment and let me know.

Hi, I think it is great that you want to teach your children your real reason for celebrating easter. BUT I also wanted to let you know that how Easter has been commercialized is not the Pagan way. I am not an expert on Paganism, but it is not about the easter bunny and candy etc. It is about the rebirth of the Earth, fertility, balance etc. Rabbits and eggs are signs of firtility in the spring. I want to teach my children our reason for celebrating too, and plan on filling their Ostara basket with some garden tools and seeds, and MAYBE a little candy. :) I just wanted to let you know that I agree that the commercialism is so not the reason for celebration, but it is not Pagan either :) The End.
Annon, thanks, I have been doing some research since I posted this last and found more about the Pagan way. I should have just but commercialism, rather than Pagan, sorry about that.
The Pagan belief is interesting indeed and focuses much on the rebirth and new beginnings of life. I really like that idea about the seeds, and I might just use it. I will go back and fix the pagan... thanks for stopping by.
Commercialism has become such a problem with every holiday hasn't it? We are trying to make new traditions for Christmas/Yule too so it is not just about presents presents presents. It is more work then just going and buying presents, but in the long run they will remember what we did as a family, and the magic of the Holiday, more so then what they got. (I hope!!!)
Hi,
I've heard of families doing something each day this week that corresponds to what happens in the Bible during "Holy Week." It starts with Palm Sunday and ends on Easter Sunday. You can probably find some good ideas online. Here's one example I found

Erin, thank you for the link. I will check it out!
